My research focused on understanding how different user types—casual movers to dedicated athletes—interact with fitness data. I explored behavioral patterns around motivation, group dynamics, and how visual feedback can impact consistency. This helped shape a product that feels personal, competitive, and approachable across fitness levels.
I designed Strain to feel clean, modern, and emotionally motivating. From the progress rings to leaderboard layouts, every element was crafted to keep users engaged without overwhelming them. I prioritized visual clarity, encouraging users to celebrate their daily wins and stay consistent through subtle but rewarding UI cues.
Using SwiftUI and native iOS tools, I implemented a smooth, responsive interface with real-time data visualization. I also leveraged AI assistance (via ChatGPT) to speed up coding, logic structuring, and troubleshooting. The UI is optimized for readability, minimal taps, and frictionless navigation—especially during active moments.
Strain is built on a simple but powerful concept: your best effort, measured and celebrated. It’s not about outdoing others—it’s about outdoing yourself, with the added push of friendly competition. As a designer and AI-enabled developer, my goal was to make performance tracking both meaningful and motivating—without the pressure.
